Unfortunate Fortune

?There is quite a large cost, ma?am,? Said the repairman.

?Well then spit out the cost, I am going to be late for work,? I said.

?500 dollars? He said.

?500 bucks? You must be kidding! All I did was go off the curb, into a ditch, and crush the front of my car, and you want me to pay 500 dollars??

?I am afraid so,?

I was so mad. 500 dollars? Ha. I didn?t even get major damage. I pulled out a check and wrote it to the car repair shop. I harshly handed it to him. Now I was late for work. I sighed, sat on a rock and put my hands on my face.

?Um, ma?am, hello, wake up,? The repairman was in my face. I got up instantly.

?What now??

?Your car is fixed. You may leave now. I hope you had a nice nap,?

?Thanks,? I said and drove off. Wait a minute, did he say I slept? Yes he did. Now I am really in for it. My boss might even fire me. It is all the stupid cars fault.

?When I reached my work my boss saw me and called me over to the lunch table.

?Jess, come over here. Why are you so late? For one thing I thought you went on a vacation or something,? His voice was calm and in an accent, but inside, I knew he was really mad.

?Car accident, 500 bucks in payment,?

I said.

?Well Jess those are your problems. Remember what I said last time you were late??

A picture came in my mind. My boss was yelling in my face screaming,

?One more time you?re late you?re in the garbage!? That meant that I was fired.

My eyes swollen up and I almost started crying.

?Yes Jessica Jones, YOU?RE FIRED!? He said.
